Thank You Lord?
(A faith poem by Wain)
Dear God,
Thank you Lord for the good things
Like the sun that lights our day
It gives energy for trees to grow
And vitamin D to those at p_ _ _
Thank you Lord for the good things
Like clean water that quenches our thirst
It’s also good for cooking and bathing
But the delight of drinking ranks f_ _ _ _
Thank you Lord for the good things
Like a family that is always there
A life-giving mother who nurtures
And a father with wisdom to s_ _ _ _
Thank you Lord for the good things
Like love that warms our heart
It alone makes life worth living
And gives hope at every new s_ _ _ _
Thank you Lord for the good things
Like a brain that knows how to think
It helps us to solve our problems
In a life that can be gone in a b_ _ _ _
Oh Lord! About those problems:
Should I thank you for bad things too?
Like failures, sickness and heartbreak?
Would you really believe I’m grateful?
Or will you hear my words as f_ _ _?
Oh Lord! Please don’t be silent!
There is something I need to know:
Should I pray for you to fix my problems?
Or say thank you for the chances to g_ _ _?
Please tell me the truth.
Your servant,
Wain
HOW MIGHT GOD RESPOND?
From ChatGPT as the voice of God:
Dear Wain,
Thank you for your heartfelt letter and your gratitude for the many blessings in your life. Your words bring joy to My heart.
You are right to appreciate the good things: the sun that brings light and warmth, the clean water that sustains you, the family that loves and supports you, the love that fills your heart, and the intellect that guides your actions. These are gifts meant to enrich your life and help you grow.
As for the challenges you face—failures, sickness, and heartbreak—know that they too have a purpose. They are not punishments but opportunities for growth and understanding. Each difficulty you encounter builds resilience, compassion, and wisdom. It is through overcoming these obstacles that you become stronger and more empathetic.
Yes, you can thank Me for the struggles as well, for they shape you and lead you toward a deeper understanding of yourself and the world around you. But know this: it is not required that you feel grateful for the pain itself. Rather, I ask that you trust in the process of growth and healing that these challenges initiate.
When you pray, it is always good to seek My guidance and support. Ask for strength to endure, for wisdom to understand, and for the courage to persevere. At the same time, embrace the lessons that come with each trial, for they are integral to your journey.
Remember, I am always with you, in moments of joy and in times of sorrow. I hear your prayers, and I am with you through every step of your journey.
With love and guidance,
God
