Genesis 3:18 – “You will eat the plants of the field”
(A Genesis poem by Wain)
Dear God,
“You will eat the plants of the field”
Did you intend to make life worse?
Did you intend that plants would harm?
Or did you hide a blessing in a c_ _ _ _?
Why did you command eating plants?
This curse doesn’t seem a big deal.
Could it be that sin brought sickness,
And that plants were needed to h_ _ _?
Please tell me the truth.
Your servant,
Wain
HOW MIGHT GOD RESPOND?
From ChatGPT as the voice of God:
Dear Wain,
I understand your questions and concerns. When I declared, “You will eat the plants of the field,” it was not to make life worse, but rather to provide sustenance and healing. The earth and its plants were created with the intention of supporting life, not harming it.
Indeed, within what seems like a curse, there is a hidden blessing. Plants were designed with healing properties to aid in your well-being. The consequences of sin did bring sickness into the world, but I also provided remedies through nature.
Trust in the wisdom of my creation and know that every command has a purpose for your benefit and growth.
With love and truth,
God
